Quantum Computing

Here is an article about quantum computing.  If you do not have at least a basic understanding of how computers work and math then it might be a little difficult to understand everything in the article.

For those of you that do not know, quantum computing is the next next generation of computing so to speak. Quantum computing is a way to obsolete a lot of the things we use today if it can be made more practical.  Right now it is still difficult to produce results with much significance. Simple arithmetic can be done but not the breaking of encryption. As stated in the article if quantum computing is allowed to reach even a fraction of its potential it will be able to compute things that would take lifetimes for a normal computer or super computer to finish. It has been talked about for a while now but progress is still somewhat slow.  With the completion of a true quantum computer we will witness another technology boom.  At least as far as computers and encryption go. If there is no new encryption method then a quantum computer would be able to hack all of the essential files of all the nations of the world and wreak havoc.  The power of a quantum computer is a truly astonishing thing to think about, and one that I personally can not wait for.
